Gar for a 100

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is no "true gar" that can live in that size tank for life. Some false gars such as needle nose gar and a couple others characin stay small and look just like gars. You will have better luck with them :)

the smallest true gar requires at least a 150 gallon wide tank.

they're called needle nose fish, a lot of local areas call the longnose gar with the name needle nose gar!

A Florida gar will live in a 100 gallon for life just don't tell the MFK lynch mob about it.;)

Just because they can, doesnt mean they should. In my early days i had a 20 inch silver arowana and a 16 inch florida gar in a 55. They seemed happy and healthy, but now i know it wasnt right. Florida Gar should really have a minimum of 24" front to back.
