Gar help!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
 your yelling at us? Great way to start here... If you had READ the fishing stuff and heck even looked at the pictures of the adult fish you would see that the fish is well... BIG so your standard aquarium will not do. Now a fish that big will also require A LOT of food. Those two clues right there should tell you right off the bat about what your getting yourself into and the $$$$ your going to have to shell out. Then there is also a really great tool here on the forums thats called Search Simply enter in Alligator Gar and lots of info will appear.

people r saying i need to do research. Umm... did you even read the top box that CLEARLY STATES

"I need to know care and stats!!! I have been doing research and have found NOTHING, I even posted a question on yahoo answers (No good responses). I need expert advice NOW!!! "

So, I've been trying to research but all I find is info on fishing. If you are not gonna post info on care than plase don't post here anaway. And the people who said I'm gonna do it in a short amount of time and it will be bad for the fish. I'M GETTING IT IN JUNE!!!!!!!!! THAT IS LIKE OVER 3 MONTHS FROM NOT!!!

first off, i don't know when "3 months from NOT" is, but it sounds like a weird period of time.

secondly, i did in fact read your box that clearly says you found nothing in your "research" and therefore indicates that you have done insufficient research, don't know where to look for appropriate information, and are likely not ready to care for a fish like this. i think those are all solidly-based opinions, and likely facts.

as mentioned earlier, start with a more manageable species, such as a Florida gar, and then work your way up to gator. no gar keeper should start with a gator gar as their first gar. period. if you don't know how to find info on these fish (trust me, "yahoo answers" is not the place to go), that only reiterates your amateurism in keeping gars. this is not an elitist opinion, it's for the benefit of the fish AND you as the keeper.

again, i would go with a different species even sooner than june (but still after some decent web research) and go from there. good luck--
