Gar help!!!

I just bought a spotted gar that is like 4 inchs at my lfs, he likes to sit in the top and not move I dont really know what it eats but am going to try feeders tomorrow to see if I can get a responce.

I'd leave feeders to a last resort, try some shrimp with garlic..

For a gar this size feeders are the best option. Get some size on the gar first before trying to get it on prepared food items.

Worms work well with small ones and they are fun to hand feed

You probably have a Florida gar rather than a spotted gar since they account for 99.99% of the Florida gars and "spotted gars" in the trade. No matter what the ID, proper research beforehand really helps with properly caring for new fishes.

I agree. But since u got it anyway, u can do ur due research in here and hopefully know what u are getting into. And for start, always feed live food until it gets to a decent size.
