gar ID and feeding question

alright gar experts, i picked up this guy a 3 days ago and he's been very active in my tank. however, he hasn't eaten yet. the store i bought him from had him on strictly goldfish, but i'd like to eliminate that if i could. the current feeding regimen for the tank he is varies between hikari bio-gold+ mini pellets, frozen blood worms and chopped up market frozen market shrimp.

also, the id at the lfs just said GAR, lol, no other description given...any ideas from the pictures?

so i got a gator and i didn't even know it. figured it was a florida or spotted gar.

is it possible to get him off of goldfish?

absolutely. it may take work, but he will eventually eat prepared foods if you are persistant.
