Thanks, Jordan. I might hold off on getting them then. He wants $60 for the Florida gar also and it's the same size, 12". Is that worth getting?

Dont get me wrong...i would get all three of them, but be prepared to work your butt off. $60 for a 12" Florida is pretty steep. I usually see them at that size for about $30.

Thanks man. I'll offer him like $30 and see what he sees. I really want another gar. I just don't know if I could handle those two shortnoses right now. I've got my 2 little girls 21 months and 10 months and they take up a lot of my time right now. I'm gonna see if he'll sell just one...

either way they are all great looking fish and would be very rewarding to keep. I would say $30 for the Florida sounds more reasonable. Let us know how you make out and if you need any more insight let me know.

I'll let you know what he says about the $30, maybe $40. Thanks for the help man...

Dave, be careful with your stocking. The next thing you know you'll have growout tanks everywhere and the main tank is growing at the same time!:nilly:
Right now, I don't really have anything to put in the 300 b/c I have to wait for the Florida I have now to grow about another 8-10" before I can put him in there... :(

with a 300 you will be fine for a LONG time (more than likely for life). That wouldnt be a real worry at this point.

p.s. what are the dims on your 300?

very nice looking gars. if it was me i would hold off condsidering i dont have the room. but since you have a 300g (as jordan said about the dims, width is more important for gars so that they can turn) and i only paid 15 for my florida. as with my longnose.

the 300 is 8x2x2.5 I'd like to upgrade to a 6x3 or something in the future after I move though.

With a 2' wide tank you would probably be fine for life with them, but a 3' tank would be ideal. Most Florida Gar tend to grow rapidly to 14-16 inches, then their growth slows almost to a stop. My 18" Florida has been the same size for over a year now.
