Im guessing longnose?could be a spotted though?

then im going to have to say longnose. its snout is more than half the size of the head. and i could see a light pattern on the top that resemble my fiances longnose.

one thing to note, if it were a longnose, at this stage the 'snout being more than half the size of the head' is not always diagnostic, that is a trait for longnose gar subadults and adults.--

A Lepisosteidae

Simple to make just a measuring tape epoxied to a stretch of PVC cut in half.. Throw two squares of plexi on each end and your done.

OK I here is my guess..

Lepisosteus osseus

Reasoning.:

Obviously the most pronounced would be.. The extra long and narrow snout. As apposed to the IN my opinion more broad snout of the other species.. Though i cannot fully gauge the broadness in the pic.. Still this is part of my guestimation.

next i would say The extremely thin and lanky body.. At that size I would extact most of the other species to have some tub on them...

And last the Lack of pattern.. even though the species looks to have good patterns it does not look to have that of the most common two. And the pattern that is barely visible due to stress is light as in both adult and juvinile osseus.

The tail,... Well any way that confuses me :D So I am done with my guess and why..

I just looked at a bunch of pics and these reasons were the seemingly most prominant to this amatuer.

so if its a longnose its snout inst fully developed. i change my mind to shortnose. cuz they look alot like the juvi in the other ID thread.

Well I'm sticking with osseus for reasons stated above and also the finnage and tail seem to be a little long which I've only noticed in pics of young osseus and spatula.
