Judging from some of the things you have mentioned about your LFS...it sounds like many others we read about here on MFK. They either don't know what they are talking about...or else they say whatever it takes to make a sale. Maybe both! Caution is required.

Sorry, but I don't believe that's a Gator. Hao Hao wednesday13 wednesday13 and others can hopefully confirm/deny.

Yeah they aren't aware of a lot of things, i have trusted them in the past and have regretted. I once asked them 'do you know how big a RTC gets?' and after a few moments, they replied 'yeah it gets 10 inches' LMAO. However i just finished my exams and as a reward, my folks gave me money, which i spend entirely on this gar, its been my dream to buy a alligator gar and due to its rarity, i took the risk of buying it. Hopefully it is a alligator gar, not some other type, otherwise, this will the worst day in my life.

The pictures really bad for ID purposes but it doesn't look like an alligator. It looks like a Florida and the snout is that of a Lepisosteus rather than of a Atractosteus species. A is a longnose gar which is of the Lepisosteus Genus B is a alligator which is of the Atractosteus Genus and the last is a florida which is again a Lepisosteus Genus

Looks like a fl gar.
That's what I was thinking, but I have no experience with Tropical, Cuban, etc. so didn't want to rule them out. Totally wrong look for Alligator.

AR1 AR1 if buying a misidentified fish results in the worst day in your life...well, you ain't seen nothin' yet...

Another pic
So how big will it get and how quickly. Can it coexist with my snakehead, pacu, RD and RTC in the longterm or not. Should I return it and buy something else or is it a keeper?
