Gar massacred by tilapia

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the tilapias purpose is to be fed to the gar since there's plenty of tilapia here in the Phil and owning one is like food, maybe the tilapias are too many that's why they take a pick on the gar. I've experienced that kind of problem before with my late silver aro :(

:irked: Nothing to really learn from this since its always been the case that you DO NOT mix Gar with Cichlids. just out of Curiosity what kind of Tilapia?

sorry for your loss. however, i would agree with the above comment. it's been stated over and over that cichlids and gars are generally not a good combination. unfortunately this is just another statistic in that case/pattern--

sorry for your loss. gars are hardy but must be kept with peaceful tank mates. your gar's case is a reminder of that. 12 incher must really hurt more.

Could be Oreochromis niloticus but several species of tilapia have been introduced in the Philippines for food. Almost all species are extremely aggressive.

dont know exactly what the tilapia variant is but it was supposed to be feeders for the gar

and yes there was way too many of them

the pond was 10' 6' 4'
