Gar needs a home - compatibility question

you should have any issues getting him off of live feeders. goodluck with him!
 
Gonna try the market shrimp on a stick method I think. I was thinking of tossing in a handful of pellets and see if he surprises me...if he doesn't eat them the convicts will. I did put in a half-dozen feeders just to give him something to munch on and settle him in; they didn't last long.

He definitely seems happy. All I had in the tank before the gar was a uaru and 4 cons and a pleco...the cons aren't quite sure what to make of this and seem a little put out, but the gar and the uaru are just cruising around together (maybe because they're close to the same size, the uaru isn't quite as long of course but he's big).
 
Couldn't get the chal...the supposed "not for sale" chalceus and some of the poly's were mysteriously gone (as I suspected). They had some leporinus in though, I could get them and let the gar eat them, put it on youtube for ya :wink:
