I have a 3 n a half foot Alligator gar.. almost four feet now.. im thinkin of selling it.. here in Maldives , im thinkin 100,0000 MRF , thats 10K USD .. is it worth that much?? or should i decrease it a bit? btw gars, snakeheads , iguanas n etc.. r banned in maldives.. its a damn ****ty new law they jus issued... u cant import any cool pets now... bt lucky for us we get to keep the ones we have lol...

Alligator gars are one of the cheapest gars to obtain in the US. I would think one that large would be worth hundreds of dollars, but not thousands.

i'd have thought 100-200tops. but it's your call. also, i wouldn't post it on here if it were illegal.

i say price depends on the availability and what the demand is like. How much did they cost before the ban? i'd say that's a good starting point, and now that they're banned, higher price can be justified, but not over-the-top prices unless there's really such a demand.

e.g. a $10 senegalus bichir in the US can cost couple hundreds in Australia because they're illegal to import (but as long as the fish somehow finds its way into the country, then it's legal to trade/keep).

i think he said fish that are already in the country are ok to keep.

:ROFL:im sry but i dont think it would be worth 10K or let alone 1K maybe $999.99 lol but i highly doubt that im just saying in my mind there probably worth like 300 dollars im sure though but i mean why would you sell something like that when they became illegal and you cant get one if you want one again cause of the law so id keep the monster and let it grow to its true size of being a alligator gar like i said i wouldnt sell it id keep it well around till the end man

yeah, read thru it again...must have mis-read it the first time.

Last gator gar I Recently saw in a store was 2 footer and he cost $20

i agree with Ricky (infblue); it's worth what people in the general area are willing to pay. that being said, i can't see a gator gar (normal morph) going for $10k USD ANYWHERE. if they are extremely rare, which it sounds like they will be now, then maybe a couple thousand if you find the right (and desperate) buyer. my two cents--
