Gar Quiz - the return - ID the fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
stalking all things gar helps though...nice new one! i'm wondering how many would get this one correct

croc type......... I or III

give me a little

edit III is my guess

IMO body shape and such point twords hybrid. snout(though barely visable, nice one) points tword a hybrid between A. spatula and L. osseus

OMG!?!? Are those croc III's? I thought there was only one case of longnose gar x alligator gar? These juvi gars looks much younger than those pics posted in lepisosteidae.net. Are these other such occurences???

Interesting...

I also say Croc III, since I've seen pictures of very similar looking gar.

interesting! it's definately in the atractosteus genus, narrowing my choices down to the 3 species. i'm going out on a limb and eliminating t-gar due to it's rarity during '04. it also seems to be a pickled specimen, so i won't take patterning into consideration. finally, the snout seems too narrow for cuban, so i'm going with A. Spatula on this quiz

My first impression was alligator gar, but the pattern was throwing me off until the others mentioned it being pickled...
