why do shops sell alligator gars anyway?
about two months ago I have seen an over three foot alligator gar in one fish shop for £75,they told me that i can kept it in my aquarium but I just couldn't believe it!
they should be banned,they grow too big for any home aquarium!

there is no reason that gators should be banned. people that want them should do their research before getting one instead of getting one and then realizing that they cant properly house and care for it. that is the main problem with people that get gators and are trying to get rid of them some time later.

first off,fl/spotted is your best bet.
second,what species of payara and arowana?
cichlids are rarely good with gar.

Tank mates:
2 red tail Tat's
Silver Aro's
4 Parrots (really just for color and dont mess with anything )
2 Gold severums.
1 dichodus sex.
1 royal clown
2 Frontosa (just couldnt pass up, and are not aggressive)
1 tiger shovelnose
No plans for any other cichlids.

I think I am going to keep a eye out for a florida, I have had them in the past and really liked them. Thanks guys!

many of them might pose problems cause they are aggressive.
such as the royal clown,distichodus and can outgrow eat the gar like the TSN.
