I'm just wondering because I have a 48in. by 18in. by 25in. tank> way to small for any gar. Can someone list the minumen tank sizes of the gars they know? Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

1-yes it's too small for any gar

imo smallest size for life for
-spotted/florida--5x2.5x2

-tropical/cuban/(longnose)--5x3x2

longnose and gators tend to need ponds

That's good to know, I am planning on keeping two Florida gars in my 6' x 3' x 2'h tank.

Why is that? Is there too much competition for food or are the pbass and severum too aggressive for the gars? I do have a 320g (6' x 3' x 2.5'h) that has a HBRTG aro and 2 rays but I wanted to leave more room for the aro.

gars generally don't do well with cichlids for both of those reasons--
