captive max is hard to say for trops here as some are pushing 20" or more from the 2005 batch and others are around 17", perhaps some less. they tend to grow faster than Floridas and definitely grow thicker...also tend to be more aggressive...hence bigger tank for t-gars is probably a better idea all the way around.

keep in mind those tank sizes suggested were xanders opinion; although there are no hard-fast rules for this topic, i would likely disagree on some details but don't have the energy to get into all the details right now (if one combed the various threads on gars in the forums they could likely piece it all together though).

Cubans and longnoses can likely get larger than t-gars in captivity...the typical Florida/spotted LFS gar would likely be on the smallest end of the spectrum--

if PB = pbass = peacock bass then that conversation has taken place half a dozen times in this forum. it's generally not recommended to keep gars with pbass as they can stress the gars out (leading to broken backs in some cases) and/or outcompete them for food. generally not a good idea--
