Gar Temp

I am thinking about adding a gar to my 125g native tank. Either a spotted, florida, shortnosed gar. I do not heat my tank so the temp hangs around 72 - 74 generally. My question is that an acceptable temp for a gar? I think it is but I wanted to make sure.

Also I'm a aware for life a 125g is not large enough I already am saving up for a larger tank so lets not bother getting into that discussion

That temperature range should be fine for any species of gar native to the United States. The recommended aquarium temperature range for U.S. gars is 70-80°F if I remember correctly; temperature stability is definitely important as well.

seriously though if you were going to the cities any time in the future or some thing like when i go steelheading around your area(if you wanted to go that route like i mentioned before) forest lake just got a mess of 12" floridas in for $30. could work somethin out to save you shipping if you couldn't find them by you.(i couldnt remember if you could)

how large of a florida did you get? and congrats on your first gar next you'll have more then you'll know what to do with!
