whatever west1 has mentioned was exactly what i meant.
theres always a chance.
and i agree with him that the more the armatus is on his own,the more he'll be territorial.
i'd at least try bichirs.maybe some catfish.
theres always a chance.
but theres also always a chance it wont work w one or both of the fish getting hurt. ;)

this seems like a general regurgitation of what has already been said before...have you kept this combination together before? or a similar combination? if so for how long?--

for what it's worth, although i was responding to your reply, it was not necessarily anything personal towards you...this sort of thing happens a lot in keeping predatory fishes, and of course no one knows everything or how every combination will work out...we only have the experiences and information based on other aquarists at this point.

if this were a debate on spawning a fish or getting them to eat or something along those lines, i'd definitely suggest try whatever someone wants to try, but when predation or loss of the fish is very likely at stake, it's better to follow previous experience.

anyway, looks like things have been well discussed overall, so best of luck to the original poster with their choice--

Cool:D. I never took anything personal or said anything to anyone oersonally. I was just adding my 2 cents with my success with the gar:headbang2.
I will be adding one more Tat later this month.
Thanks for the info Solomon:)

Trev good luck on your water pitbull's tank mates:D (hope you find something for him)

stupid question....what's a tat? i've seen it a few times in this thread, but i dont think ive heard of it. im sure it's something ive heard of, but ive never seen it abbreviated like that.

hydrolycus Tatuia, redtail payara.
smaller, less mean version of an armatus

He's known for having no backbone... :grinno: He goes wherever the wind blows :grinno: Unless you truly own an Armatus or a gar, it's not good to give other advice when you have no clue :banhim:
