Garden Hose a cheap Python replacement?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you want to use it to fill your tanks buy a water safe RV hose from walmart. Most garden hoses have an anti mildew coating that can kill fish.

it is even better to attach a mag drive pump to your hose if you have a larger tank. it will drain much faster. just make sure there is water in the line so the pump does not run dry

+1
for what the guy above said.

I use a 75 ft. garden hose attached to a sump pump to drain water from my tanks during WC's. It's MUCH faster than I could ever do with a Python. Plus it saves water too. If you're worried about using extra electricity, start up the pump to start a siphon and then unplug it and the water will siphon out on its own. Anyway, garden hose is safe and much cheaper than buying vinyl tubing by the foot.

How do you guys hook the garden hose up to the faucet? I want to be able to check the temp from the faucet as well with out turning the water off like I can on the water changer I have.

I use one of these:

I bought a couple of size adapters from Lowes to change it from garden hose to my faucet's threading. Using the above, I can turn the flow off to the hose and direct it into the sink. Once I have the temperature correct, I simply open the hose line and close off the sink.

Good idea.

yes ordinary garden hose is just fine.
