garden hose

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i went out and bought a drinking water cleaner thing... a filter i guess for your drinking water.... filled my 120 gallon with that and while i was filling i added salt/air bubles

I spent the money and went and got the python, it is awesome. I have never did water changes in my 4 fish tanks so fast. Spend the money and get a python. It's well worth the money spent.:woot:

I filled my 55 gallon with a garden hose.
It was a old hose though.
I was informed by my LFS after that you may want
to shy away from this method in the winter months though.
Something about the temperature shock to the silicone joints in the tank.
I didn't have any problems with it though.

Keep in mind Pythons only work if you have great water pressure. I don't, so a python is worthless to me and others. I ended up using the tubing that came with my python to hook up my UV and other stuff. It was finally useful. :D

I've done it for years....

Well i couldnt find any rv hose so i went ahead and filled the tank with the garden hose. Heres a pic:

my guess is the companies which make potable water hoses are the ones who commissioned a study to say garden hoses were unsafe.

Ther is no alternative here to garden hose, but quite frankly I would not bother. Garden hose is perfect and so is the tap for filling tanks. I cant be bothered with aging water which has next to know chlorine in it anyway.

I used a new hose to fill up my tank, I got some odd foamy bubbles. they don't really feal like soap bubbles. I thought I hadn't rinced my tank well enouph when I scrubed it with windex, then bleach water, then vinger. Could it of been my hose? I used one my father in law used to drain his dehumidifer. he didn't use any chemical with it.
why did I clean my tank like that, well it had serious lime deposits, dried algae, and some grass and dirt. From where I let my nephew have it when I sold the old house and built the new. well he quit using and stuck it out in his yard. really was amazed that it didn't leak, I was expecting to have to buy a new one.
