Gargoyle Gecko not eating :O?

Why do you suggest so much baby food when the cgd has what it needs.CGD,crix, wax worms, calcium with d3 and a vit powder.I only used the baby food to trick him into the cgd.Maybe thats what you mean.CGD has all the nutrients so dont overdo the powders if its eating that stuff good.Im not sure about gargoyels but the crested do good between 75 and 85.I know lots of books and net info says around 85 is too hot and I know that over it is probably bad but alot of breeders Ive talked to like the higher end as it gets them feeding more.Mine ate more as the temps warmed up this year.Sorry Ill let you chime in,Im just saying just because we keep them alive you know, how long have they been in the pet trade.Im sure more can be learned about them, especialy diet as with lots of herps.

heres a link to the food.Im sure variety is better but use this as a staple. This and crix.A little tip that works is once its been awhile and its had time to adjust, and trust me,mine was eating at the store and still took 3 weeks to eat at my house, but put some of the mixed food on your finger and touch his nose with it.He should lick it off and you can try it a few times. He may start licking it from your finger but start mixing small amounts and leaving it in a small dish that he can step from and eat.If hes small then dont expect to see much gone.Try the finger thing. If its not skinny then give it a few days, they are more sensetive to move than other herps for some reason.

alrite thanks, i recently bought some peach baby food im going to try it with im tomorrow. I havnt touched him, made any loud noise or do anything that couls stress him out even more. If he doesn't eat it or even pay attention to me ill just give him a few more days without any contact.
P.S. Considering so many things are common between crested geckos and gargoyle geckos can i just copy some information from crested geckos and apply it to mine?
P.S. #2 Even though the gargoyle gecko is nocturnal will he ever be active during the day?

Mine never moves in the day, but, once established in a few weeks you can wake him up for handling. My crested is very active once being held.He likes to jump from hand to hand and stuff. So yeah you want to make a cool looking viv that appeals to you so in the day and hes not moving you still like how it looks. Then you can get him out as you please.I got a crested book with gargoyle info I will check later. You can get a moon glow or low watt red light for night viewing as he becomes active.Once he eats crix you can feed him in room lighting and he should go after them in the day. They just sleep all day if not bothered.Something interesting you can do is start to study their habitat in the wild.

  1. says gargs are more prone to be cannibals and will nip others tails when young
  2. kept under similar conditions
  3. they grow heavier than cresteds

Nope, very risky, but at least better than keeping a fire bellied newt with a leopard gecko;)
