Hey guys,
so been hearing people using garlic to enhance appetite?
How does that actually work and does it actually work?
throw some garlic in with the food? or garlic water > soak food ?
Garlic helps the fish digestive track and treat internal parasites. I am currently using Seachems product(http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/GarlicGuard.html). I think I actually prefer the garlic juice you get from minced garlic from the grocery store. Save a couple bucks too.
I add it to keep my fish accustomed to it so if they do get sick there is a common ground. My fish have no problems eating or pooping so may be it is working well.
Below is actually an interesting article I found on the topic.
I came across the garlic antidote when trying to treat my O of HITH. My O has gotten a lot better and almost all sings of HITH are gone I just don't dare taking my O off her meds.
Hmm I see so you guys just mix pellets with garlic juice... Will this work for arowanas ? Anyone tried with arowana ?
Sounds pretty interesting as it not only helps appetite but disease aswell ?
Apart from the digestive/medicinal benefits, garlic is used primarily as an attractant to get picky fish to eat or expand their diet.
I would soak the food in garlic juice.
only fresh pressed garlic eaten within a few seconds/minutes of being pressed will help with parasites (maybe), search for allicin. commercial garlic products are not effective at treating parasites.

I used to get fresh garlic, give it a good smash and rub it on raw foods before feeding to my puffers which helped them start trying foods since they were very picky eaters...
