Garnet sand is highly recommended. Anything below a 40 mesh. Aside from its beautiful aesthetic. Much easier on maintenance.

Aqua Terra Sand blend - pbb
Note: Aqua Terra sand not recommended. Too fine grains. Gets sucked in filters and stuck on polys slimecoat.

the music in your video captures the magnificence of garnet perfectly.

J jaws7777 . Great idea on this thread. Not only does it compare how polys look on different color substrates, but also helps with IDs for the polys. It's crazy how much a difference the color of sand makes!

Thanks J jaws7777 !!
hahah no problem man

im washing 60lbs of natural red sand to mix into the top layer of my sand right now. This stuff is pretty fine but has a really nice dark red/orange color. Ill post some pics when I make the swap. Currently using a 40lb/60lb mix of tahitian black sand and a dark tan sand both from caribsea since i used to be a rep for them, over time it has mixed a little bit with the DG/Laterite base layer but the colors havent changed much
