thanks alot for the info guys,
so mine are florida gars, I will certainly get a bigger tank soon,
a few days back, I saw the same gars on the market, they're about 24" just as mentioned above, will they grow much bigger than that, specially in an aquarium?
another silly questions, is florida gar the same as spotted gar?are they not the same as true alligator gars?sorry guys I am just so dumb about this, need help,
will different food I give to my gars affect their colors?

cheers

it depends on the species of gar. florida and spotted gars have identical care requirements in captivity, and in asia we cannot distuinguish between the species as most of them are captive bred, and perhaps crossed. so in a sense it is somewhat pointless to try and tell between them. no they are not the same as alligator gars, they are all different species. no the food will not affect their colours to any significant extent, unless it's really poor quality food, in which im not sure what would happen. you should do some research on the forum, many of the qns asked here have been repeated many a time, if you have anymore qns feel free to post!

good luck with them. post some pix when they settle in and color up

thanks guys, I will put some nice pict. soon as they'll settle in, but right now I'll be planning on getting a bigger tank for the gar,
there are currently lots of exotic fishes available on the market here, but most of them I believe are local hybrids, but it doesn't matter for me they all look good, and i just wanna hv them all, couse they are so cheap over here, lol, planning to hv piranhas as well though, in a different aquarium of course,
the only problem I hv now is the water at home that is so contaminated with chlorine, I can smell them when I open the tap, so what I did so far is to drop anti chlorine in the tank everytime I change the water, and the gars seems ok with that, and they eat just fine.
any other suggestions for treating the water?should I use something else too, other than antichlorine?
thanks again

water conditioner has some added stuff i believe, esp if it's as bad as you say it is.
