I also have a 3,500 gallon (15'x7'x4') pond outside for the gars to go into this spring.

haha okay because you're "planning on upgrading" riiiiiight....When, in a couple years? poor fish. they already need a bigger tank like yesterday.

If you bothered to read, you would see I have a 3,500g pond in my backyard that I dug for the sole purpose of putting my gar in it! They will be moving out there once the weather gets nicer and the pond warms up enough to not kill them with the temperature difference.

Again, try READING the thread before you spew. ***hole. Besides, none of the gar have outgrown the damn tank yet.

None of them have outgrown the tank? You said one of them were 10"-12"!?!?! and how many are there, 9? I have 1 12" aro in a 150gal and he is already outgrown that.

what are you talking about a 12 aro is not oversized for a 150gal...conner's fish haven't even outgrown the tank yet...i suppose you'd think putting a few young shortnose gars in a large tank is a good idea...given the psycho nature and difficulties associated with housing them, i'd say if conner has kept them alive and healthy for so long he's doing something right. i don't see how there's any need for your posts since conner has mentioned that he already has a large sized pond that's fit to house almost all species's of gar (and all the species that he actually has) for life and more.

come to think of it, where are you going to put your rtc once he outgrows the 2' width of even your 400g? does your aro also not deserve a tank with a width that's larger than it's potential length? gonna dig into the neighbours apartment on the second floor and make a pond?

pot kettle my friend...

*i didn't want to make another post to derail conners thread, so i'll reply to post# 44 & 46 here..

:it might not be, but conner's covered his fishes future, you haven't. so why are you expressing how bad you feel for his fish when you should be feeling worse for yours.

This thread isn't about me and my fish now is it? I was just expressing how bad I feel for the guys fish. If he doesn't feel guilty than that sucks for his fish

do they? how many of conner's gar species have you kept which would lead you to this conclusion on their growth rate and space requirements? you can learn a lot by reading, so you don't necessarily need to have kept them to know better...you just to (as conner mentioned, even just pertaining to this thread) read and you'll learn that your statement is asinine.

yes, some of the fish will eventually need a bigger tank, he's got that taken care of. reGARdless, they have plenty of time for which they will be fine in the current setup (and with what little experience i have with them, i do know the motoro will be fine for the time conner mentioned as well).

please keep the pointless posts under control people--

Oh and I believe a 12" aro needs more than a 150gal. Again, I am someone who likes to let my fish have PLENTY of room to swim. As much as I can possibly give them

then post about your arow in the arow forum. i think most experienced and practical fish keepers know that a 12" arow will do just fine in an 18" tank until it gets to that length and/or has trouble turning around OR shows major signs of stunting.

if you have nothing of value to contribute in the gar forum, just go post somewhere else--
