Gas heater for my 550 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Extremely creative.. I'm impressed.

Heat is not a problem for me. I'm the other way needing to keep things cool. LOL We have a 200watt heater in our 120 gallon fresh water tank and it's more than enough. Got to love Florida..

Shrug, copper pipe doesn't worry me. Stainless is better at any rate and the radiator method is much better imho.. similar to what I posted originally.

awesome idea too bad natural gas is so expensive here.
as fo copper pipes around here we now use flexible plastics in our domestic water systems

Great project!!! I gotta have me one of these!!! I did thought about it since I am running 1200 wats of heater in there now plus my dehumidifier. Just concern about the initial cost of setting up this heating system but i guess it pays for itself inthe long run. Mind sharing how much it cost to set it up? Hoping to do one before the next winter season. Don't have the funds to start now :D

Thanks,

It cost me about $350, but I had alot of the stuff and parts already from other projects. Here's a break down of what the total costs would probably be.......

Aqua Tankless water heater = $190 ( ebay RULES!)
Mag drive 18 = $175
Pex Pipe and fittings = $90
Aqua medic temp controller = $65
316 Stainless Steel = $80
----------------------------------
Total ( Approx) = $600

Wow!! I better check ebay on that heater. Distributor here in regina SK. quoted me $420 for their smallest tankless gas heater plus the installation and other materials I'll have to spend close to 1K. Something about "GAS" scares me not to mess around with so I never even considered it doing myself :D. But I looked this morning on how Iam going to install it and it seems do-able, it will still be for next winter though, I got so much stuffs to finish first. Yeah I noticed also that if temp goes lower than 80 F my aros eats less. I bet your aros are nice, warm and very comfortable now :D . Thanks for the info.
