Hi guys basically my jardini has been nasty lately so i need to get rid of him well then my LFS has suddenly got a GATF in so im willing to trade the jardini in for the goliath but i need to know if he will be compatible, i have a 210 gallon it has 4 cichla orinocensis 1 cichla ocellaris 2 oscar and a channa micropeltes the cichla are all 8 to 10 inch the channa is 10 inch and oscars are 8 inch the GATF will be 6 inch will i be able to mix these fish please give me as much knowledge as you can as i have until saturday to make a decision. i will post pics if you guys think it will help you visualise the stock?

Seems like you are trading a minion for the devil himself! You need a 9 foot tank for GATF....I doubt anything else would survive very long with them! They do not play nice with others!

lol yeah thats definately true i hear the fish is a beast i have watch river monsters where he caught 1 and it was a true monster, i hear they grow around 1 inch per month roughly but its difficult to get info im more than happy to upgrade i need a bigger tank anyway as i believe you need more depth than 2ft to keep large fish so i will defo be upgrading even if i was to only keep oscars, you truly believe this fish cannot be kept with anything else then due to its aggressive nature? have you ever kept 1 or this just from what you have read heard?

The forums I have read suggest they strike at anything that moves. with that weaponry you can be sure it is not just fin nipping. All might be well till you find your fish cut in half. You could try larger fish that wont eat them....Large Barbs maybe? i would not risk much! As they grow it seems they would BE the tank!

yeah this is probably true i suppose they might be fine until they grow and feel confident enough to attack as when they do they will just cut in half any other fish, this is if the channa doesnt eat him before as hes pretty mean but not as bad as the reputation says,, have you known of any1 keep these with any other fish?

anyone pick up on this? a GATF for a Jardini...............who cares if tankmates will get along with GATF, get rid of them and keep the Tigerfish. I'd take that trade all day

goliaths are very passive and the peacock bass would eventually kill the goliath. they are not fearsome until they're over 20 inches long. and they are not fast growers, you would not be able to reach 12" in the first year, notice how many large ones you see in the US

really wow so your saying i could have 1 in with my current stock then? im looking to have to get rid of my red snakehead as hes just starting to outgrow everybody and is becoming aggressive absolutely love him thought and would love to have another fish in my tank that makes me as proud as he does

Doubt they will get the chance. The toman will kill the gatf in a heartbeat and the rest of the tank will follow sooner or later
