Hi everyone. I am in the process of pellet training Congo, my Goliath African Tiger Fish (GATF). Water parameters are perfect and he has three small tinfoil barbs as teacher fish. It has been 9 days since he has eaten, but now he is finally nipping at pieces of Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks, but he then spits them out after one or two bites. I know it is a good sign, but in the end he is still not eating.

Can anyone with experience in pellet training GATF give me an idea of how much more time it may take to pellet train him? How much time after observing attempts at feeding did it take before your GATF actually swallowed a pellet?

I would post a pic, but I can seem to able able to due to technical difficulties. Also, I cannot seem to post new threads on my Note 4 in the Android application without going to the full desktop version. Does anyone know how to post from the Android app??

Thanks

My fatf took after 10 days, once he began to take them and spit them out it was only a few days later he swallowed them.

If he's biting them, you've won half the battle already .... he should break soon ... if i remember correctly one of mine took a month to break finally at about 10 inches

Thanks for the replies. He is really going after them now, but just not swallowing.

Yes, I have high flow and it's at 81.4 degrees F. Is this temp high enough?

My GATF took exactly 9 days of starving before he started eating jumbo carnistick but i think he was never fed with a feeder fish when i bought him right when the petshop got the shipment i went and pick him right up so training him to eat pellets was easier.

Thank you everyone. I increased the temp to 83.5 F. He is still just going for a quick bite and releasing.
