i'll eat when it's hungry. These beasts can live without eating for more than a week or 2.

I know payara species are known to go on "hunger strikes", maybe somethimg similar is going on with your gatf. Just keep trying, im sure he'll eat when hes ready.

Agreed. Mine will eat vigorously for about a week then he'll go a week or so without touching anything. Especially if I make a change to the tank, like adding salt and raising the temp. The first time I did that, to treat ich just like you, my gatf went off of his diet for about a month. Once he started eating again, I didn't have any issue with salt or temp changes in the tank after that.

They are temperamental, if he doesn't seem stressed, I wouldn't be too worried. I don't even worry now if my guy goes a few days or even a week or so without eating. If he goes for a long time, that normally means he's gonna get new teeth. When was the last time your guy cut new teeth?

You should leave the salt in your tank for another 2 weeks or so if started treatment 1.5 weeks ago. The ich life cycle lasts about a month plus the salt wont hurt your fish any.

and i wouldnt worry about the salt hurting your ATF.... i keep a high salt concentration in my freshwater tanks and my Goliaths are coming up on 2 yrs old with no problems at all.... the quick addition could have affected him, but long term its no problem
