I really want a GATF but is it true that they tend to kill themselves a lot or no? If they do then how can I prevent this?
A lot of people have told me that ATF can kill themselves or injure themsleves by ramming into the sides of the tankWhat do you mean kill themselves? I don't believe so.. You may be thinking of Scombs, which are Payara?
Ok thanks for the awesome answerYou need the rite set up and plenty of room, strong current/flow and slack spots because that's where they sit and rest in nature, also maybe in a room with less activity so it doesn't get startled and all fish are more relaxed in lower light.
It's the same with any fish, if its not comfortable in its environment it will be scared and/or want to get out.
Just 1 last thing, I have seen you have made a lot of posts about various huge and aggressive fish and trust me don't rush into it, patience is the key to this hobby and many people get excited or act on impulse and end up regretting it, it's much more enjoyable to take your time and get it right trust me![]()

Ok thanksYeah they can, their vary skidish too. Another reason you don't see to many of the large ones in the market. To prevent it, I'm no experts but what I did was I painted 3 out of the 4 sides of my tank, used dimmer lighting like LEDs but only had 1/2 or the tank with light on it. I also put blinds in my room and to make my room dark all the time so he couldn't see me as much and spook him. Tall plants and drift wood helps too along with afew fish that are mellow. They also need a large tank, the larger the tank the less he will hit his face on the glass turning.
