All I can say is, get ready to plan ahead my friend.. I loved my first gator gar so much that I went back and got two more. They were about that size when I got them and I somewhat discredited the posts claiming insane growth spurts, that was a little over a year ago and now 3 tank upgrades later.. they are starting to outgrow my 2.5 meter tank.. thankfully I got them used to pellets but boy can they go through alot...I can easily see them eventually requiring a box of pellets each.. also they are prolific ****ters.. I have a filter made for a 2000 litre tank and still the bio load piles up in the bottom after just a couple of weeks. Another thing I've noticed is increased aggression, If you simply hover your hand over the tank they mistake it for feeding time and pounce (thankfully the top is sealed with glass... Now dont get me wrong I still love the buggers but I went from having serious plans to build them a large enclosure to contemplating dumping them in the sea..(wonder if they would survive the salinity), Cuz even trying to sell them would be a waste of time at this size.. i doubt anyone has a tank bigger than mine.
