Sounds more like Longnose gar fishing with the rope lure. I cant imagine anyone catching an alligator gar on a rope lure and I didn't think there were any alligator gar in SC. The penn 209 sounds good but I think the 330 is beefier and holds more on the reel. I am seeing tho that more are using treble hooks than circle. Probably better off getting both.
