Gator gars tail question

Thanks for your advice, I am very found of this animal and was concerned for it's welfare. She is feeding well and seems to have 100% normal movement. The Gibbies are plecos so I'll monitor the situation closely.
The only thing that may have caused the injury could be a friends 9yr old son who went into my fishroom unsupervised.
I think he may have spooked her trying to get her to react as she wouldn't eat after they all left that evening.
The next day she was fine but her tail was different.

Part of the reason I hate kids. :irked: I am pretty sure given what you stated that this is cause of the problem.
My advise is that next time you have kids over, just leave the top of tank open and tell them that fish likes it when you wiggle your fingers in the water.
Tell them that when you do that the fish knows it's "playtime" and will come play :headbang2
