gator nails

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't believe that someone would buy an aligator without even knowing how to deal with its nails.

how the hell are you gonna deal with its teeth? How are you gonna deal with its thrashing tail, strong enough to break your femur, in one slap?

that's the question.

I thought someone who bought an oscar for a 30 gallon was irresponsible...

ok most people arent gunna think a herps nails need clipped not many do and it looked to be as they were getting long so i thought hummm maybe they may need to be cut and i have a plan i have a unfinished basement or we will move and have a heated barn i can dig a pond or have a ramp leading to it and fence it off with animal safe heavy duty fence and you can hold a gator at 4 feet even at 8 feet you just have to interact with it every day to bond with them and have them since babies so you can pet at 10 feet.

I guess. I just have heard horror stories of big gators associating people with food. good luck. never go in that enclosure without a friend holding a shotgun. once it grabs you, its not gonna let go.

did you hear that from anyone who handles gators professionally? down here in Florida there are many dealers, zoo type attractions, and gator farms... I have yet to meet one that would agree with that statement.

Large alligators are strong and unpredictable. precautions must be taken every time you are near them. as adults, you house and feed them... not play with them.

you studying herpatology?

Brady Barr is a bad-ass and he makes it look easy, but I wouldn't try to handle a gator.

for real, if you're studying herpatology at a good university with livestock and experienced people to teach you to handle that beast, great. but if not, I don't see someone keeping a gator/croc/caimen as a pet ending well.

I wish you the best of luck. If anyone comes out of this maimed or killed, I hope its the gator.

THANK YOU!!!

I've seen footage of gator keepers (who have known the gator for years) get mauled by the unpredictable behavior of a hungry/angry gator. they don't even have to be hungry. they are 200,000,000 years of evolution. they aren't anything to play with.

except maybe with a floating bass lure from a dock.

you don't even approach a 3' gator on land. it will outrun you. in the water, stealthy deadly.
