Thanks Gar keeper he is enoying his new more spacaious home but constantly sits opposite his old tank watching his old tank mates.
I could swear he is lonely and wants some company in there.
I notice your avitar has a gator eating a mouse, I feed mine a variety of high protien pellets and have never feed him meat.
Please post some videos of your Gator.

That's crazy that he had tankmates, you must have some decent sized other fish. Yeah that pic is of him eating a mouse but I don't feed him "meat" too often. When I first got him I just fed him goldfish and occasional chicken and what not. Then I learned from others on here that chicken and such isn't good as a main part of their diet. Even goldfish aren't good because they strip the Gar of certain nutrients (vitamin B I think) Now his main diet is market shrimp and a few goldfish here and there. Then maybe once or twice a month I feed him an "oddball prey item". Like a mouse, or baby bird, or a frog, or a big koi, just cause that's why I got him.
I don't feed mine pellets or anything like that because I wanted a vicious predatory fish, and that's what he is. I have started wrapping lettuce up in the shrimp so that he gets a vegetable intake. I'm sure you know they are just a magnificant creature. I have another tank that has needlenose and a spotted/Florida gar that is really nice, but there is nothing like the Gator Gar. My girlfriend and I love him like he's a kid and when people come over to visit all they do is just and stare at the Gator Gar. He's super aware of what's going on around him and follows me down the hall when I go to the bathroom and waits for me on that end of the tank, then when I come back he follows me and just stares at me. He's so badass, I love this freggin fish.

My gar has always had tank mates and has always eaten pellets, his tank mates were as big or 3/4 as big.
