I will stick with Scotti, just a curiosity, plus, having caught them, it would be cool to say that I managed to catch something out of the ordinary, mind you, I have never heard of anyone keeping Scotti anyhow :D

Ray - we have a really nice 8" scotti we're growing out, I'll have to post some photos of him. Thing is, ours doesn't have quite the same coloration as yours, maybe a regional variant. Am pretty sure ours is also from Uruguay, by way of Ken Davis.

Thx. for your excellent photography! Are you going on the AqvaTerra trip with Ken this December? It should be a good one, maybe some celidos plus new undescribed pikes from a new area never tried before. Wish I was going.....

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree: :headbang2

I wish I was going back so soon! I will make my way back to Uruguay, my wife would kill me if I tried to use more holidays on "fish stuff" this year

As for the coloration, that is what makes me question the ID on my fish. . . Let's see those pics

Thanks Felipe! Like John, I should have listened to you from the start! Now we have Zombies in our past!!!!

There's a lot of fish being sold in the hobby as gaucho, which are not. Ray I know you collected them with Felipe so go with his ID, he knows more about Uruguay fish than anyone else. This is the only fish we caught that we thought was gaucho (Felipe id), a female from Ansina.

Thanks Ken. . . I really love a good mystery! too bad I am making this one up LOL I should know better than to doubt Felipe. . . he didn't steer us in the wrong direction once in the whole two weeks!!!

That guy must be from Ken, looks exactly like mine do, he even looks to be about the same size, between 4-5"? I just remember there were two very different looking groups of "Scottii", a very grey one and this more yellow one with the flecks of gold in the body. . . I only took the golden ones, they looked fantastic even stressed!

I have learned a whole bunch from Chaitika on the photography end, If you read his posts, he gives a lot of tips, things that are good even with p/s cameras. Thanks for the kinds words, still lots to learn and get better at! :D

I just have to say, thanks to you Ray, Crenicichla are finally getting captured to their fully beauty in pictures. Your pictures are helping them get the attention and appreciation that they deserve!!!

John ~ Wow!! Looks awesome man!!! Wish you could make it to the MCA this year in KC. Gonna be some cool fish and people there for sure!
