what is wrong with the ge silicon 2? i have heard from people on this board saying its not fish safe, and others saying it is fish safe. how many people have tried it and it was ok?
Bioseal is a mildew/bacteria inhibitor as JustLooking stated. Designed for bathroom caulking and the like where you don't want the bugs growing. I've read posts where people have used it, apparently with no issues, but to me, GE1 is a safer bet since it is nothing but 100% silicone.
GE silicone 1 is aquarium safe. They put that on there so you go pay 4 times the price at the pet store and so they can not be sued since you are not a professional resealing your tank. I resealed a tank and it has been fine for the past 5 months!
I think someone on here posted that GE makes the silicone for all glass,so they have some kinda deal worked out that GE would label there silicones "Not Aquarium safe".
Ya I spent $23 opposed to $4.99. Would do it again, when it come to the heatlh and well being of my fish 18 bucks is pretty cheap. If I were a little more patient I could've gotten a 10 oz. tube for 8 bucks online.
How would you know if the GE I silicone was releasing harmful toxins into yopur water column?
