is takin them out of the tank while u clean much of a risk? never kept armatus just wondering.
I'd advise against this as it could be probably more stressful to the armatus and it could seriously hurt itself trying to avoid being caught...I had to net one out before and it's teeth got all caught up in the net and I had a rough time getting it free.It took the rest of the day before it starting breathing normal again.

He looks good to me big dogg (aside from his snout). He seems to know where he is swimming... I would feel pretty good about him pulling through :D

i picked him up in May-June and his snout has always looked like that. Not sure why this one likes to swim the glass so much. It started healing finally and then this happened

I hope he pulls through!!!

not swimming good today. I am going to be out of town for 2 nights, can can't risk him to die while i am gone and spoil my water, so unless he makes a big turn around by tonight, i will have to pull him out and finish him off :(

Has he recently shed his teeth ??? My Payara doesn't eat for a month or so after shedding. I've seen him get so slim it's down right creepy. From your video I see no reason to put your fish down. I was expecting to see a lazy fish that was listing from an upright stationary position however yours is all over the place.

no this is not the normal, shedding teeth scenario. I think it is a swim bladder issue. Not sure though. It seems when this happens there eyes start to swell. He is still swimming a little but starting to bang around like he is really messed up. I am not sure what to do, but i cannot risk him dieing while i am away and killing all my rays. I will try to make the "right" decision tonight before i leave.

here is what happened to my last one :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMf6kdomgvk

after a week or 2 of slowly passing.

I suggest u move the Armatus out of the tank that contains all the rays.
Characins are hard to save.

i think that is why on the tanks that you see big ones in, the tank has algae all over it. Maybe the only option is to keep your hands out of the tank.

A single L200 will solve your algee problem.
