By the way it has a whitish-yellow eyes. bluish greenish glow but pinkish on other part of body. Its about 2.5 inches. Im sorry I can get a clear shot..

Zz maybe blue dragon. Looks female to me but it's still small. Koks don't Start to develop until 3 to 4 inched. Some fish grow them some wont. It's 90% genetics. 10% diet/care. Don't feed these specialty kok growth foods. Feed it what you would feed any other cichlid. Nls or hikari.

Agreed, I feed my guys a mixed diet of bio gold, hikari blood red parrot and frozen blood worms and it seems to work well

Can you explain how a blue dragon isn't a strain anymore. as far as I know a red dragon zz lacks the pearls. A blue dragon is technically a red dragon with pearls giving it a blue sheen. Everyone just says "pearled up red dragon". The breeder that I use in Thailand still exports flowerhorns that he directly refers to as blue dragons. Maybe you can help me understand how blue dragon is an unavailable strain. Thanks in advance.

Blue dragon had very little red or pink color (just near gills) and the blue base color on their body was not from pearling. They had peals but all zz are supposed to have pearls.

Red Dragon

Red dragon ZZ flowerhorn (RD), by indication of its name are identified by its strong colour. *Perceived lower quality*red dragons may only be seen to have the red colouration*between the*pelvic fin and lower jaw where higher quality RD tend to have an intense red with substantial body coverage. *This of course is judged on the overall traits of each fish. *Although RD are classified as ZZ flowerhorn, it is not necessary for them to have pearling though it is common for many modern RD to have pearl coverage.

Blue Dragon

Blue dragon ZZ flowerhorn are very similar to RD in terms of appearance. *The characteristic which separates the two is the pearling, in particular the colour. *Blue dragons will appear to have reflective blue pearling commonly referred to as a “blue sheen”. Classic blue dragons were seen to have a larger nuchal hump (kok) when compared to their classic RD counter part.

In modern strains, the popularity of RD has seen the evolution of the genes promoting the growth of larger koks possibly reversing the classic trend.

It seems what I find completely contradicts what your saying. Not all zz have to have pearls. There are plenty of srd with absolutely no pearls. Unless you are talking about the flowerline. I'm talking pearls as far as worm pearling, armour pearls, netting pearls etc. All zz do have a flowerline that's what zz means. To be specific to your respone, not all zz have a pearl pattern that I'm referring to as a blue dragon.
