Hikari is a good food. Imo nls is better but you can't go wrong with either. As far as tips... you may want to consider a 75 gal. Depending on how big he gets. A 55 can work as long as it's not a huge flowerhorn. Avoid falling into the scams of humpy head and grand sumo. Stuff like that is a gimmick. He has a lot of blue in him. Try giving him spirulina brine shrimp as a treat to. I try and offer live food also. Earthworms, crickets, butterworms, moths. Every month or so I'll give him a shrimp. No feeders. Have some metro on hand, flowerhorns seem to get hex out of no where even under perfect conditions. Other then that keep water good do wc and enjoy him.
