Yes it does promote breeding... I just thought it was your regular temperature. Keep the temp up for a week or so and then do daily 10% water changes with colder water, it will simulate rain and promote breeding. Also feed em live food if possible or fresh frozen foods high in protein (worms, shrimp, fish), small meals two to three times a day.

Another method that works great for single pairs is to place a small mirror for a few minutes in the tank to help em bond. I don't recommend leaving the mirror for days at a time because it causes a lot of stress on the male but 15-20 minutes every day does the job just as well.

I tried a mirror but the male didnt seem very agressive. The females stomach looks plump so maybe they've been trying but the others were in the way. Gunna leave them alone for a week and see if eggs come about! Excited about fry!

Thank you for all your tips!

I tried the mirror trick, my fish just stand still. Little to no movement. I did daily "rain water changes". Still iffy on the 88F ...should i just take out the heater? My tank averages 78F without heater. (Mid Summer)

I attached a few more pictures of them after the first day of this post that I gave them their own 55 gal, 88F , daily rain showers. When they're under the clay pot saucer at 45 degrees angle they're very deep in color. The female's abdomen is slightly bulgy.
