hm ok, i guess once i get a new freshwater tank running its going to containg poly

Very few things are more fun than watching feeder fall victim, but I limit my feeder feeding now a days, or keep them in a salty water to "delouse" them. Also, I was interested to learn recently a lot of fish in the wild eat seeds and nuts that fall into the water, pacus, aros, oscars, cichlids, lots. In a way processed fish food is like a meat seed. But I agree, I avoid it too, a few shrimp pellets for nutrition or sometimes I"ll crush them up and soak meat in there for a bit before I feed them, when fish eat shrimp/fish in the wild they eat the food in the fish's stomach, guts, shell and they eat all different types, thats why its good to have a varied diet.

So far I have had very good luck with polys, I stopped giving them feeders and they love pellets, I hope you have good luck with them in the future! These are really great fish and I don't miss giving them feeders at all. Although I will very rarely give them shrimp or minnows .

My baby Senegal has grown a bit already in the short time I've had it (2 weeks about). He loves the freeze dried Hikari bloodworms, the hikari brine shrimp, and ghost shrimp. I will continue to change up his diet but I have yet to find something he does not accept as edible let alone scrumptious. He's a good hunter already at his small size, he's by far and away the most entertaining when the ghost shrimp are in there because the way he stalks them.

I'd suggest giving a senegal a try maybe if you've had trouble keeping other bichirs alive in the past. They're extremely hardy and well worth it as their personality is reward enough sometimes.
