General Pike Question

How difficult is it to induce pikes to spawn?

If you want to get pikes to spawn, get either a Saxatilis group pike or a dwarf. The Saxatilis are easier though. Lower pH, soft water, lots of drift wood, and PVC pipe are helpful to say the least. Feedin live foods like earthworms and glass shrimp helps to condition the female but not nessecary. I would try Crenicichla sveni, they are cheap, relatively common, and beautiful...but there are sooo many out there. Check out www.tangledupincichlids.com and go to the South American cichlid section, then look under his Crenicichla, hes got some nice pikes for sale right now...
