Just a 50 tall

What are the dimentions of a 50 tall? That size kind of limits the species you could keep for life in that tank. You could look at musk, mud and spotted turtles. You might be able to keep a painted or male map in that size tank as well.

Yea I checked out musk turts a little bit becuase a couple of you recommended them.
From what I read they like to have a muddy base with a lot of plants. Is this about right? My current setup has clean water, no underwater plants, lotsa floating cork and some bedabeast. I was planning on getting some above and below water plants. But would a mud enjoy the water or is he gonna try to burry himself?

Musks don't need a muddy bottom. I keep my pair in a bare bottom tank. They rarely will come out of the water but do enjoy floating plants like water lettuce and Anacharis. They like under water obstacles to climb on like rocks and driftwood. If you are looking for a small turtle that will use your land area look at Spotted Turtles. Warning: they are quite pricey but very nice looking.

Good I wanted water turtles. Thanks a lot. Very helpful.

oh, and I will put pics up of the tank when I get it completed. Still working on molding the cork and all that good stuff.
