Memorial Day weekend I left town to enjoy friends and family. Came back in town to chaos!!! A massive storm hit the area of Memphis hard!!!! Uprooting trees blowing off rooftops etc. I came home to downed trees in my drive way!!! SMH But what grieves me the most is I lost my oldest parrot fish and my beautiful female flower ray.

What type of generator would you guys recommend for the aquariums??? That is really all I care about!! Don't judge me!!! LOL

I guess the power was knocked out during the storm.
I lost the ray in the picture. However, at the time of the storm and power outage, she was being housed alone
in a Rubbermaid cattle trough. Smh
The fish game can be harsh!

First, I'm really sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all to well my friend.

We now have a Briggs and Stratton hardwired into the house. Runs on propane, we keep a 500 gallon tank on the property. I also have the Predator 8750, which is basically a harbor frieght generic honda generator, has a base that sells separately with wheels for mobility. It worked wonderfully. If I needed an everyday generator 100% honda without a doubt, but to save a lot of money I went with the predator since I was only running it for a day or two, a few times a year. I'm not a generic guy but in this case I couldn't justify spending an extra thousand bucks. I'm assuming you want a mobile unit that you can just run outside and run extension cords into the house? Or are you thinking something to hardwire?

If its just for your tank you dont need much power. I got a troy built with a Honda motor ( agree with Honda being the most reliable) its a 6500 watt and it handles My 300 no prob plus a few other appliances like my fridge , tv .. what have ya.

Yes, right now mobile for immediate relief and piece /peace of mind for future storms. However, the hard wire for the house would not be a bad idea or investment.

I recommend you get the generator and then do a mock run with 2-3 trusted people that have access to your house while you are away. This way you all go through the steps of how to set it up, where to safely locate it while running, how many extension cords you'll need and where they are stored, what filtration pumps, air pumps, and other items need to be plugged in. How to take it all down. That way you all go through it together. Then if you're ever away you have 2-3 people that all you have to do is get a message to, then odds are one will be available (with perhaps the right bribe) and everything will be fine and you won't have to worry while you are away.
