Look what I seen, my first thought was dyed; but I've been told, genetically modified.

I have no interest in them, thought id post up to let people see though

Its not like they stick a needle in each fish.

Once they were successfully genetically modified, they're bred the same way other farm raised Zebra Danios are bred.

I don't see the ethical dilemma. Is it really worse than buying fish taken from the wild or selectively bred (and highly "culled") fish varieties such as goldfish or longfin Zebra Danios?

I attended a talk last year by one of the guys from Florida that developed them.
He said only 1 out of thousands, after being implanted would be able to carry the gene into the next spawn, and they would painstakingly need to find those few out of ponds full. They have successfully worked this into tetras, and I wouldn't be surprised if cichlids aren't far behind.
Not that this is my cup of tea either, you couldn't pay me enough to take a blood parrot much less these, but I'm sure this opens up entirely new markets for the hobby and people in the trade.
