Kay. If both parents are heterogeneous for double tail on their father's side and I breed them together what's the ratio of DT to ST (single tail) fry I will get in about 15 fry. Also if I breed THIS fish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i24PG...eature=related with the fish in this video seen at 4:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUuhZHQUGLc could I posibly make a black and white Butterfly, or a contrast black and white fish?

Betta's. Both are at least half moon plakats.

I believe you would want to use a Punnett Square to figure out the tail question. That would tell you your general ratio.

Ok, so the males parents both have double tails right? So the male would be AA

The females parents don't? But has a double tail.. so she would be Aa

A- Dominant a- recessive

So you would get 50% AA and 50% Aa (without double tails, but has the recessive gene)

you would get two sets 25% homogeneous, one for dominant and one for recessive, 50% would be heterogeneous..... 75% would be phenotypic for ST, and 25% would be phenotypic for double tail.

(this is for the offspring of two heterogeneous parents, this is also assuming that single tail is dominant)

I'm going to try it out and see what I get. I'm going to spend the day googling "Betta Genetics" since I'm out of money to buy books and our library here is tiny.... They had an outdated goldfish care book on how to keep them in bowls.... Here's an updated video where you can see the fish better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1elP9KLgJnA Lady Elizabeth and Sebastian
