i would like to add a couple of things to this thread. first pure oxygen is not explosive it will make an explosion bigger but by itself it is not explosive. second if you do decide to inject oxygen into your tanks make sure you use only medical grade oxygen the oxygen that is used in welding is not suitable for breathing . third never ever use an air compressor to aerate your tanks air compressor always put a little bit of oil into the air most air compressors have a warning label saying that the air from them should not be used for breathing

The technique recommended for oxygenating water during fish transport is use of pure bottled oxygen. The finest air bubbles possible should be pumped into the water. Oxygen diffuses faster through fine bubbles. Large bubbles forcefully pumped into the water may also injure fish.Warm water holds less oxygen than cool water. Respiratory requirements of fish are also greater at higher temperatures The more oxygen you pump in it will cool the water quicker. catch 22

i agree.

and if you want to really save on electricity look for battery powered pumps and then hook it up with solar power but you still need to have a batter to charge from the solar plate to the battery.

But with a CO2 setup you dont even need battery power, just use a bubble counter ot difuser. Right? Perfect for power outages.

Yea, generate enough CO2 and you'll warm up the earth and we won't need aquarium heaters! that'll save electricity... why hasn't somebody thought of this before
