Greetings all, I am in the process of pre planning my 350 SA tank. I am a school/shoal type of guy and want to have a few largish schools of tetras. My pink tail is the upper story boss and my 4-line pim takes care of the floor. I am looking to get one to three large fish that will not eat the tetras or bully the others. I am looking at keyholes, threadfin acaras, snakeskin gouramis, or chocolate cichlids. what do you all suggest?

Thanks for the responses, that is what I figured with the choc and heck. I researched the Uaru and they seem to want it quite warm. Does anyone have any experience with the gouramis? I know they are not SA but that is not a deal breaker. Things seem to be leaning keyhole. if so should I only get one to avoid breeding aggression?

i have raised geo alifrons with schools of cardinals and rummi nose and even at 8 to 10 inches never looked at a tetra as food. But i think the key is to get them small and never let them see other fish eating fish.

Geos sift sand so they'd probably dig up plants that didn't have strong root systems. Uaru will eat most plants so they'd probably be a no-go as well.

Keyholes are great and very peaceful but they're not exactly giant -- males max out at 6" but realistically end up somewhere between 3 - 5".

I have Pearsei and Bocourti in my 210g and they are both good community fish that get big but are pretty gentle with tankmates. But then I dont have any small Tetras in there to see how gentle they are....
