I've seen alot of people talk about a biotype tank. I assume that means taking fish from the same region, correct me if I'm wrong.. I want to do geo chiclids biotype tank. I have a 150 and a 200, I may go with the 150 because my 220 my arowana will be moving into.

My qiesrion would be if I were to do geos, I understand they are bottom dwellers really. What type of other fish could I add with them for it to be a true bio? Would lemon tetras work? I would like to do the geos as a main staple in the tank but would want maybe 2 schools of fish on the upper region of the tank.

Maybe 7 geos
10-20 lemons if they are the same biotype
And some other type of schooling.
Or maybe ill just add a huge school of lemons tetras 20-30? I'm just not sure how many would work. Or if that would be a true biotype tank

Welcome aboard
Yes you are correct.
I suggest research on what Geophagus inhabits the same area as the Lemon Tetra.
Thank you!
Ok awesome. I think ide like to do a big school of lemons with 6-7 geos. Would 20-30 tetras be to much? For a 72inch 150

Did some research and found a perfect Geophagus specie. The Geophagus Redhead Tapajos and Lemon Tetra come from the Tapajo River of Brazil.

What kind of flow do geos and lemons like? The 150 is a planted tank and I have a powerhead toward the bottom of the tank that spreads Mt CO2 around. Should I move it to the upper region of the tank? It's strong so I'm not sure if I should get a less powerful one. Do they enjoy high water flow?
