Geo biotype tank.

Just about every Geophagine I've kept appreciates lots of flow and highly oxygenated water.
Below is the type current I use
Flow
and beside the outflow from the sump (above), I like to add a power-head wave maker or 2.

You guys are the best here! Thank you for all this information. Those pictures helped greatly!

Do you have a bubbler for more oxygen or does the wave maker act basically as that creating more surface tension for more oxygen?

I do not use air stones or air pumps.
The water pump in the sump, and wave maker pump together add enough. surface agitation for oxygen exchange and flow.

Perfect, I currently run a fluval fx6 and that outlet pumps hard along with on the other side of my tank I have a strong powerhead, but may also get a wave maker as well for the top

Theres biotopes and then there are the truly hardcore biotopes.
The true biotope nuts will research the natural habitat in f their fish and replicate the substrate, decor and only use the same type of rocks, wood and plants found in that perticular habitat.
I don’t go that far and there is no reason for you to either but one day I would love to do a proper Rio Nanay angelfish biotope.

That would be awesome to do a hardcore biotype but definitely not me right now! I do think it would be super cool looking. I think for now I'm only going to do 6 or 7 geophagus and maybe 15-20 lemons. Hopefully that isnt over stocked for a 150

I think your stocking will be fine, I had a similar setup in a 4x2x2 with 4 red head geos, 4 neon blue acaras and 12 columbian tetras and it all worked out well.
The red heads seem pretty slow growing so it gives you pkenty of time before you need to worry about them getting too big.
