Snakes seem too unpredictable for me to even think about getting them. I had a rose hair tarantula & an emperor scorpion at one time in my teen years, and I still refuse to even consider snakes.
The tarantula wouldn't bite me as long as I didn't piss her off, and the scorpion would try to pinch me every time I picked it up. That was ok because I could always expect the same thing every time. I have seen too many friends get bitten by their pet snake right after they told me "it doesn't bite" with no warning. lol
